Police arrested DJ, a 16-year-old boy, after it was alleged that he robbed someone on the street. The evidence against DJ was strong; the victim saw who robbed him, and DJ and the victim were known to one another. Additionally, though the victim was not injured, his phone and wallet were taken. Recognizing that DJ could be indicted as a "Youthful Offender," Henry attempted to convince the prosecutors otherwise. He gathered letters of support, obtained proof of DJ's after-school employment, and wrote a letter on DJ's behalf.

After a lot of negotiation, the prosecutors agreed not to indict DJ as a "Youthful Offender." In exchange, DJ had to agree to plead "delinquent" to the charges. This was hugely important, as being indicted as a "Youthful Offender" exposes the juvenile to the possibility of adult jail or prison.

In this case, DJ avoided being subjected to punishment as an adult.
