Outcome: Record Sealed

Description: The criminal record of Ms. M, a young lawyer, was sealed today. Earlier this year Ms. M faced a charge of Assault and Battery. The case grew out of a disagreement between Ms. M and her husband. It was a case that probably should not have been brought in the first place and it was promptly dismissed. Today, a different judge agreed that event though her record shows a "dismissal" the presence of an entry on her criminal record creates bias and prejudice and could negatively impact Ms. M's ability to obtain and maintain employment. As it stands now, Ms. M's record states - "this person has no adult record."
