While driving on a busy rotary, LJ, a 60-year-old engineer, rear-ended another vehicle. Both vehicles pulled to the side of the road. The driver of the other car approached LJ. The driver was aggressive - he cursed and insulted LJ. LJ felt fearful, so he drove away.
One week later LJ received a summons to appear in court. Apparently, the other driver recorded LJ's license plate and called the police. LJ had never been in trouble before. He hired attorney Henry Fasoldt to represent him. At the magistrate's hearing Henry presented evidence which showed that LJ's insurance company had already reimbursed the other driver for damages. Henry explained that LJ fled because he was afraid. LJ agreed to pay the other driver for additional out-of-pocket expenses.
The Magistrate did not issue a complaint.
