IN THE NEWS: Court holds Waltham landscaper accused of stabbing former foreman without bail

FROM NEWTON.WICKEDLOCAL.COM:

The Waltham man who allegedly stabbed his former landscaping foreman in Newton was ordered held without bail Wednesday, pending trial.

Elder Quechel’s attorney, Henry Fasoldt, asked Judge Dyanne Klein to set bail at $2,000. Fasoldt said his client would have no contact with the alleged victim. But Klein ordered Quechel held without bail.

“There are no conditions of release that could ensure the safety of the victim,” Klein said, who took the extra precaution of ordering him, through a Spanish interpreter, not to have any contact with the victim.

Police say Quechel — referred to in court documents by his full name, Elder Quechel-Santos — returned to the Farwell Street office of Ieraci Landscaping on Saturday, June 28, to ask his former foreman for his old job back. Quechel was fired a year earlier. Police say the foreman refused, and a fight ensued.
